An effective SIAM governance model uses a layered approach (e.g., Strategic, Tactical, Operational). This ensures strategic direction is set at a high level, tactical coordination happens in a middle layer (often involving the Service Integrator), and operational decisions are made quickly at the team level. This balances control with the agility needed for daily service delivery, unlike overly centralized or completely decentralized models.

For seamless integration, the Service Integrator must ensure the new provider can be technically and procedurally ‘plugged in’ to the SIAM model. This hinges on available APIs for tool integration (e.g., incident logging) and the provider’s contractual and practical commitment to follow common processes (e.g., incident, change management). Without this, the new service becomes a silo, breaking the integrated service delivery chain. Other factors are less directly relevant to integration.

This is essential for the Service Integrator to have visibility and control across the ecosystem.
